The State Assembly of Mari El is the legislature of that republic. It succeeded the Supreme Council and comprises 67 deputies elected for a period of four years. Fifty of them are elected from single-member constituences from an equal number of voters, while seventeen are elected on basis of one deputy from each district and republican city. [1]
